Ex Nihilo is a Latin phrase that signifies a new creation born from a previously unknown source, or literally, “out of nothing”. The maison was founded in Paris in 2013 by a trio of young designers (Sylvie Loday, Olivier Royère and Benoît Verdier) who wanted to revisit the best know-how of perfumery, taking inspiration from the French avant-garde. By giving carte blanche to master perfumers, EX NIHILO promotes a new vision of perfumery that is innovative and free of compromises. The perfume house’s philosophy is radically creative: select the most exclusive raw materials, push them to the edge, and never forget that rules are made to be broken.
